How do I remove adoptive father from birth certificate?

A few months after my birth, my mother consented for her new husband to legally adopt me. He was granted custody of me in their divorce and I did not see my mother much after that. I opted to move to be with her when I was 13 and after that had very little to do with my adoptive father. He offered no financial support at all. My step-father supported me and put me through college. I have not been in contact with my adoptive father since July 2004. I am now married and wanting to start a family of my own. Before I do that, I would like to legally remove all ties to my adoptive father. I will take whatever steps necessary. My goal is for the adoption to be reversed/void and for my original birth certificate to be reissued.
