Need help! pereiodd?!?!?

I've never had my period before and im terrified that it will happen during school! i want it to come faster so i could just get it over with! is there any way to make it come faster? and if my period does come during school should i be using a pantyliner from carefree or an actual pad. my mom keeps telling me that my period is coming really soon! if it comes during school how do i know that I've had it? is it sticky, gooey, etc. thank you!
