What was the first rule set by God?

Thou shall have no other gods before me. Aren't we breaking this commandment and is this why we no longer hear from him. Everything is our lives is of his son. Our churches and our lives. I wonder if world peace can only come about if all religions give up their dogma and put God himself in our daily lives. The problems in Irac are religious. We now have religion in our politics. Individuals aren't deciding for themselves how they will vote. Religious groups are getting bigger and powerful. I for one want separation of church and state.
